Need medicine at night? What to do
In every district, one or more pharmacies are on duty every day, from 08:00 to 08:00 the next morning. They are also called duty or night pharmacies, and in Greek officially «διημερεύοντα» (everyday words: «εφημερεύοντα», «διανυκτερεύοντα»).
1. Until 22:00: go to the on-duty pharmacy
The on-duty pharmacy is open to everyone until 22:00 in winter and 23:00 in summer. Today's list is on the onduty.cy home page.
2. After 22:00: call
The pharmacist on duty must be available until 08:00 to fill any prescription that is judged urgent. Call the pharmacy before you go, and bring your prescription.
3. If no pharmacy has the medicine
If none of the on-duty pharmacies has it, the pharmacist marks the prescription "Μη διαθέσιμο φαρμακευτικό προϊόν" (product not available) with stamp, signature, date and time. With that note, any pharmacist may open to fill it. This does not apply to controlled medicines.
